I never thought it would be so easy…
A week ago, I walked shamefully out of the 5th job interview I’d had in one week. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. I had an outstanding resume and I consider myself to be both personable and an eloquent speaker. I guess it never occurred to me that my enormously long beard and hair would be such stigmatizing characteristics. I had never cut my hair my entire life.

I was only following family tradition. My father held world records for longest under-arm hair and was the owner of double gold medals for his beard that he fashioned into the shape of a water buffalo. I had always hoped to follow in his path, but here I was jobless, contemplating shaving it all off.
