Without any options left, one presented itself.
Water poured out onto the floor, signaling that once again the sink was broken. I didn’t have the know-how to fix it and money was getting tight. I shut the sink off and sat down, trying to think of a solution but feeling like nothing more than an incompetent fool. There must be something, I thought.
“Sounds like you need a repair man!” came an enthusiastic voice. I turned to see my neighbor’s 4 year old son.
“How did you get in here?” I asked, but he ignored me.
“I just got the Skil 38-Piece Ratcheting Screwdriver Set and I can fix this sink in no time!”
Realizing I didn’t have any ideas at all, let alone better ideas, I agreed and left the boy to his work. I was watching a documentary on Deron Williams’ beard when the boy returned to announce the completion of his work. He led me back to the kitchen where I turned on the sink to find that the problem had not been fixed at all.
“Hey, this sink is still broken!” I said to him.
“That’ll be $400,” he declared.
“Four hundred dollars?” I replied, incredulous.
“Or a Snickers bar.”
I paused for a second, realizing what was he was trying to accomplish. Oh no, I wasn’t about to be conned like that.
“Half a Snickers bar,” I volleyed.
“Deal.”
