They were all very, very confused.
At first, we were all laughing. Someone had just told an incredibly funny story and we were laughing the kind of laughs you laugh where people look at you and think that you might be choking. Since there were 10 of us all laughing like that, my neighbor had run over to us and called an ambulance on his way. It took us a couple of minutes to compose ourselves, by which time the paramedics had already arrived and attempted to do the Heimlich maneuver on a few of us, but then we explained the whole story.
